It is with great pleasure that I am with you tonight to greet, on behalf of the President of the Republic, the inauguration ceremony of the new building of the Nicosia Youth Ballet, a space that was built with much love, effort and personal sacrifice.
The Nicosia Youth Ballet, an institution that has been active for 25 consecutive years, has undoubtedly made a significant contribution to the field of classical ballet in Cyprus. It is no coincidence that exceptional talents have been born from the nursery of the Nicosia Youth Ballet, who have spread their wings and continued their studies in the best academies abroad.
Since 1999, the Nicosia Youth Ballet has given its dancers the opportunity to receive the joy and satisfaction of participating in a high-level competition, as well as the opportunity for personal improvement through healthy competition by participating in its established annual performances.
In recognition of the above, the Government through the Deputy Ministry of Culture could not but support the organization. From 2023, the multifaceted collaboration between the Ministry of State and the Nicosia Youth Ballet has been placed in a new and upgraded framework, while our goal is to further strengthen it so that it can realize its vision to the fullest extent. The securing and upgrading of the space we are inaugurating tonight has been done with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, so that the Ballet can have proper facilities, properly equipped and with ample space, which can accommodate their team and perform their work without hindrance.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the Nicosia Youth Ballet and its members for their overall work over the years and for the guidance and love they have sparingly offered to the young members of the Ballet. I would like to pay special tribute to the choreographers - choreographers - who 25 years ago had the vision of creating the Nicosia Youth Ballet and who formed the first board of directors of the organisation, regardless of the difficulties they had to face. Dear Claire Andreou, Elena Maxouti, Anita Hadjieftychiou, Avgi Papakyriakou and Alexia Petridou, please accept my warm congratulations, appreciation and thanks from all of us.
We wish the Nicosia Youth Ballet every success in its new premises and we promise that we will continue to be constant supporters and supporters of its activities.
