The Accountant General of the Republic, Mr.Andreas Antoniades, addressed, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, the awards ceremony of the 18th Pancyprian Accounting Olympiad and the 4th Pancyprian Political Economy Olympiad. The award ceremony, which was organized by the Pancyprian Association of Economics Teachers, took place on Saturday, 15 June 2024, at the University of Cyprus: "The sciences of accounting and economics are not just about numbers and number crunching, but provide you with the tools to make decisions aimed at the progress and success of an organization." At the same time, he praised the importance of the accounting and finance profession in the transformation of Cyprus into a European and international service centre, as well as in addressing the risks faced by the domestic economy in recent years.
The Accountant General, closing his address, congratulated the distinguished students, whom he urged to "continue their involvement with both accounting and finance with the same zeal and enthusiasm, because with dedication and hard work they will be rewarded at the end of the road, as it is known that "goods are bought by hard work".
