The Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare announces that the payment of the Child Benefit for 2024 will start from 31 May 2024 for beneficiaries with one or two children.
It is noted that the Child Allowance is subject to the full application of the Indexation of Tariff Adjustment (ATA) and, therefore, is subject to an increase for this year of 3.66%.
It is clarified that existing Child Allowance beneficiaries do not need to reapply for the year 2024. New beneficiaries need to apply online via CYLogin. The dates for submitting the online application will be announced within the next few days.
It is recalled that in addition to the increase due to ATA, the Government has decided to increase the Child Benefit by 5% and to include students of large families in the Child Benefit by paying 50% of the Child Benefit. The above decisions have received the approval of the Council of Ministers and the procedure before the Parliament follows, and will have retroactive effect from 01/01/2024.
In addition, the Government decided to support the beneficiaries of the Child Allowance according to specific criteria, who received one-off financial support within the framework of measures to support specific population groups, while single-parent families also received the same support according to other criteria.
On Friday 31 May 2024, the Honorary Allowance for Mothers with Large Families, for which the Christodoulides Government decided in May 2023 to increase in all income categories, is also paid, and from which more than 16 thousand mothers with large families benefit.
