The Deputy Ministry of Tourism announces that, following the success and significant response to the grant scheme for visiting craft and wine and gastronomy workshops in 2021, this initiative will continue in 2022, offering the public and visitors the opportunity to choose between 3.

The craft workshops will cover a wide range of subjects, such as painting, albino embroidery, hagiography, mosaics, ceramics, pottery and basketry. As for the wine and gastronomy workshops, these will include activities such as making wine, halalumi, sausages, spoon sweets, etc.

Visitors will have the opportunity to watch the artists/craftsmen at work, gain new knowledge and experience and taste/buy Cypriot products. They will also have the opportunity to gain unique and authentic experiences by participating in hands-on activities that will take place during the workshops, such as making clay pots, knitting baskets, weaving on the loom, making wine, halloumi, spoon sweets, etc.

The aim of this initiative of the Ministry of State is, on the one hand, to enhance the visitor and tourist development of mountainous, rural and remote areas and, on the other hand, to help artists, craftsmen and small entrepreneurs in these areas to survive and, at the same time, to keep alive the communities in which they live and/or operate.

At the same time, through these workshops, the Ministry of State aims to further enrich and expand the options and opportunities offered to visitors wishing to experience the "Heartland of Legends" authentic experience route, which was launched a few months ago.

It is noted that the visit and participation of stakeholders is free of charge, as the total cost for the operation of the Scheme is covered by the Ministry of Tourism.

The 2022 Craft and Wine Gastronomy Workshop Programme will be implemented from March 2022 to December 2022 in various communities across the country. The workshops will take place on weekends and/or Holidays and/or Wednesdays and will be open for visits from 10.00 am - 7.00 pm for the months of April to November and from 10.00 am - 5.00 pm for the months of March and December.

The Program is available on the website of the State Department of Tourism: www.visitcyprus.com and on the Heartland of Legends Trail website https:/heartlandoflegends.com/ - link https:/heartlandoflegends.com/workshops/. The visitor, through an easy search engine, can find workshops of interest by selecting date, region and topic. To participate in the experiential activities, it is necessary to book by telephone at the telephone numbers listed for each workshop. The Ministry of Tourism invites those interested to contact the organisers directly for any information.

It should be noted that the organisers of the workshops are obliged to apply all relevant legislation and measures for the protection of public health.
