The President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, while earlier he attended the reception hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations in honour of the Heads of State participating in the General Assembly. António Guterres, US President Joe Biden and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey.
Subsequently, in the margins of the proceedings, President Christodoulides had a meeting with the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who discussed the efforts being made to break the deadlock on the Cyprus problem and the contribution of the European institutions in this direction.
The President of the Republic also had a brief meeting with the President of the European Parliament Ms Roberta Metsola.
Afterwards, President Christodoulides had separate meetings with the Director of the United Nations Sustainable Development Network, Dr Jefrey Sachs, the President of North Macedonia Mr Stevo Pendarovski and the President of Moldova Ms Maia Sandu.
Later today (at 10 p.m. Cyprus time), the President of the Republic will address the Leaders' Summit on "Unity and Solidarity", while in the evening the President of the Republic and his wife Mrs. Philippa Carcera Christodoulides will attend the reception hosted by President Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden for the Heads of State attending the United Nations General Assembly.
