A young pregnant woman who was found positive for coronavirus was deemed necessary to undergo emergency delivery according to what Health Minister Michael Hadjipandela Michael Hadjipandela told RIK's First Update programme.
According to the minister, the mother is being treated intubated at the hospital, while the father of the child was also found positive for the virus.
"We have reached the point, while a child is born, which is the most joyful moment, the family is living in panic whether the child will live and whether the mother will live" Hajipandela said.
According to the Cyprus Times, the newborn was transferred to the Makarios Hospital where he is being treated.
