"I don't think the Ukrainian health system is going to collapse."

The war in Ukraine has weakened the health system, but it has held up extremely well so far, the World Health Organization said today, confirming 18 attacks on health targets.

"I don't think the Ukrainian health system is going to collapse. I think it's extremely resilient," said Michael Ryan, head of the WHO's health emergency programme at the WHO, during a press conference in Geneva."

The Ukrainian health system "has significantly withstood the tension it is under", especially those on the front line, a senior World Health Organization official added.

"To date," he said, "the WHO has confirmed 18 attacks on health facilities, health workers and ambulances, including 10 deaths and 16 injuries."
