The White House's response to the urging of a US senator who advocated the assassination of the Russian president

The White House gave a response to the Republican senator who advocated the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war on Friday night.

"We are not advocating for the assassination of the leader of a foreign country or for regime change. That is not the policy of the United States," U.S. President Joe Biden's spokeswoman Jen Psaki said at a press briefing.

Republican Senator from South Carolina Lindsey Graham had called for "someone in Russia to take this guy out," referring to Putin. "Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?"" he asked.

Meanwhile, Cecilia Rausch, a White House economic adviser, said the administration is considering its options if it decides to limit consumption of Russian energy resources in the U.S. She also noted that the US does not import "a lot" of Russian oil.

"The important thing is to maintain a stable supply," she said at a briefing for reporters at the White House. The administration is "looking at the various options that could be implemented immediately" if needed, he added.
