Fears that Putin's government may use the world's most destructive weapons in a generalized war in Ukraine are expressed by experts.

The Russian TOS-1 Buratino and TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flame-throwers are some of the weapons the Russian military has in its quiver.

Thermobaric weapons mix fuel and air into a cloud that, when fired, creates massive heat and pressure effects.

Russia has reportedly used the older "TOS-1 Buratino" in Syria.

The "TOS-1A Solntsepek" (The Burning Sun) is a multiple thermobaric missile launcher mounted on a tank.

The power of the thermobaric weapons is such that they can "melt" the opposing army.

Sources in Ukraine shared videos of thermobaric weapons heading towards the border.

These weapons were seen in the Russian town of Belgorod, about 40 kilometers north of Ukraine.

The "Buratino" is a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system (MRLS) that has already been deployed by Moscow's generals in conflicts such as Afghanistan, Chechnya, Iraq and Syria.

The most basic advantages of thermobaric missiles are high temperature and high pressure drop.

Upon reaching the target, the missile explodes from a small charge and sprays flammable materials over an area of several thousand square meters. Later, after a few seconds, this cloud explodes using a second detonator.

The pressure in the blast area first rises sharply and then drops.

The flammable mixture penetrates more easily into areas not accessible to general-purpose missiles.
