Ships owned by Maria Angelikousis, Andreas Martinos, Anna Angelikousis and the Alafouzos, Vardinoyannis Goulandris families, About 100 Greeks are among them
A ship of the Angelikousis Group is stranded in the Ukrainian port of Yuzhne in Odessa with a crew of 20, six of whom are Greeks. It is the Maran Astronomer of Maran Dry.
This ship is not allowed to sail by the Ukrainian authorities due to the suspension of the operation, by order of the Ukrainian navy, of the country's ports due to the war. The Greek Consular Authority in Odessa has been requested by the Ministry of National Security to intervene with the local authorities and provide all possible assistance in order to allow the ship to sail.
The Maria Angelikousis Group has three other ships in the Black Sea, namely two freighters and a tanker. The tanker Maran Hermes with seven Greeks among its 24-member crew travelling to the Dardanelles and owned by Maran Tankers, the freighter Maran Hope with 10 Greeks among its 24-member crew travelling to northern Turkey.
In the north of the Black Sea there are ships under Greek flag and Greek interests of the shipowners including ships of: Andreas Martinos (1 tanker-6 Greeks) of the Fafaliou family (1 barge-12 Greeks) of Anastasios Papagiannopoulos (1 barge-8 Greeks), Anna Angelikousis (1 tanker-7 Greeks), the Goulandris-Andriaki family (1 tanker-10 Greeks) and the Tsalamaniou family (1 tanker-5 Greeks).

The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) Joint Military Committee has placed the Russian and Ukrainian waters of the Black and Azov Seas on the list of areas of heightened military, piracy, terrorism and related risks.
Based on the above LMA announcement, the terms and conditions of war risk insurance for ships in the area in question are changing and will be subject to special negotiation between shipowners and insurers. The announcement does not affect the terms of employment of seafarers.
