Space tourism company Virgin Galactic announced on Tuesday that it is offering the general public the opportunity to buy a ticket for the price of $450,000.000 dollars to spend a few minutes in space.

The first flights carrying customers are expected to take place in late 2022, the company, founded by billionaire Richard Branson, had previously announced. Tickets had already gone on sale in August, but were booked, until today, for customers who had already signed up on a waiting list.

In November, Virgin Galactic announced it had sold 100 tickets at a price of $450,000. These were in addition to 600 tickets already sold between 2005 and 2014 for a lower price (between $200,000 and $250,000).

The ability to sign up is now being given to everyone starting tomorrow, Virgin Galactic announced yesterday in a press release. A deposit of $150,000 will be required. The journey, which takes 90 minutes in total, including the duration of the ascent, is expected to launch from Spaceport America in the New Mexico desert after several days of training.
