Ukraine's capital under siege Explosions in Kiev

At least two powerful explosions were heard in the early morning hours today in the centre of Kiev, the day after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a French Agency journalist observed.

Via Facebook, the Ukrainian land army referred to "missile attacks" on the Ukrainian capital and assured that two of the missiles were intercepted and shot down.

"Attacks on Kiev with cruise missiles continue," Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Anton Gerachenko said, following statements by a spokesman for Ukraine's General Staff of the Army.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko, said for his part that three people were injured, one seriously, by rocket fragments that fell in a district of the capital.

The advance of Russian forces has many fearing that Kiev will soon be under attack and that attacks on strategic and government facilities in the capital will multiply.
