Royal Caribbean Group announced today that 48 of the passengers on the Symphony of the Seas cruise ship Symphony of the Seas tested positive for Covid-19, raising concerns about the recovery of the cruise sector amid the pandemic and the spread of the Omicron variant.
The company reported that a total of 6,091 passengers and crew were on board this ship, which had sailed on 11 December and returned to Miami on Saturday.
Passengers who tested positive were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. Six of them disembarked[/b] before the cruise was completed and were transported home.
According to Royal Caribbean, 95% of passengers and crew members were fully vaccinated. 98% of those who tested positive for the new coronavirus were also vaccinated.
