Does not even accept the UNSC's criticism of Varosha

The Turkish Foreign Ministry accuses the UN Security Council of two measures and two weights, criticizing the decision to renew the mandate of UNFICYP and stating that it will fully support the steps to be taken from now on by the pseudo-state in response. The Turkish Foreign Ministry does not accept the UNSC's criticism of Varosha either, claiming it is a violation of property rights

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said it "fully supports the statement of the Tdvk supremo on this resolution. Despite appeals and warnings made in this direction, the consent of the tdvk authorities was again not obtained, contrary to UN rules and principles. Legal regulation was persistently avoided, but the UN peacekeeping force was able to continue its activities in the goodwill of the Tskhinvali authorities. We fully support the steps to be taken henceforth by the djvk authorities in this regard," it says.

According to the statement, "on the one hand, while the Security Council is telling the parties on the island to find a solution, on the other hand it is an attitude detached from reality and contradictory to attempt a solution model that has been tried and exhausted for more than fifty years and which is proving ineffective and does not reflect the consensus of one side."

The Turkish Foreign Ministry also argues that "the UN Security Council's criticism of the steps taken by the Tdvk authorities in Varosha in accordance with international law is a violation of property rights. Moreover, the Council not taking into account the unilateral steps taken by the e/c administration in the eastern Mediterranean, which increases tension and ignores the rights of the TCs is again an example of two measures and two stations."

"We call on the Security Council and the international community to adopt a sincere and constructive stance based on the realities of the island, in order to achieve a just and lasting solution in Cyprus and to register the sovereign equality and equal international status of the T/C people, which are enshrined rights," the Turkish Foreign Ministry concluded.
