"Unfortunate" EU official's statement on Cyprus, says "suplex"
The "foreign ministry" describes as an "extremely unfortunate statement" the views of the European Commission's Director General for Structural Reform Support, Mario Navas, published in the Turkish Cypriot press. According to a new written communiqué of the "suplex", these statements do not surprise the TC side as "once again [IT PROVES THAT] EU officials are still unable to understand the reality on the island".
According to the "foreign ministry", the EU provides unconditional support to the Greek Cypriot side and "the interpretation and judgment of EU officials on the Cyprus settlement has no moral or legal basis."
The statement also says that "the [CHAPTER OF] the bicommunal, bizonal federal model, which has been the subject of negotiations for more than 50 years, was closed in Crans-Montana. At the informal meeting of the 5+UN in Geneva, the Turkish Cypriot side announced that an agreement can be reached in Cyprus based on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the two states, the existing reality and the cooperation of the two sides on the island."
Finally, referring to the determination of the Turkish Cypriot side to continue to promote the above proposal, the "suprax" calls on "the officials of the European Union, who continue to ignore the sovereign equal status of the Turkish Cypriot people, to reach out fairly to the Turkish Cypriots and understand the existing reality on the island, setting aside the model of federation, which is a remnant of history".
