[Cyprus Times] UN Security Council renews the mandate of UNFICYP

The UN Security Council extended the mandate of UNFICYP for another six months, until 31 July[/B]

The UN Security Council, during an official session chaired by the Permanent Representative of Norway, Ambassador Mona Juul, today (27.1.2022) this morning, unanimously adopted a resolution to renew the mandate of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, UNFICYP, for a further six months, until 31 July 2022.

It is noted that prior to the Security Council meeting, the Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the UN, Ambassador Andreas Hadjichrysanthou, presented to the President of the Security Council a letter of consent of the Government of Cyprus, as host country, for the renewal of the mandate of UNFICYP.
