[Cyprus Times] UN: civilian deaths and injuries increase in Ukraine

It has confirmed 1,424 civilian casualties

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights said today that it has confirmed 1.424 civilian casualties since the conflict in Ukraine began two weeks ago 516 killed and 908 injured but believes the actual numbers are considerably higher.

The civilian casualty toll has increased from 1.335 yesterday, Tuesday 474 civilians were killed and 861 wounded since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began on February 24.


Most casualties among civilians were caused by explosive weapons, the agency said today. Updated civilian casualty figures from the cities of Volnovaha, Mariupol and Izium are being confirmed amid claims of hundreds of civilian casualties, it added.
