The Russian president further stated that everything is going according to plan in Ukraine and that the Russian military will fulfill its objectives as part of the "special military operation."

"Everything is going according to plan in Ukraine and the Russian army will fulfill its objectives within the framework of the special military operation," he said specifically.

He also said Western sanctions against Russia are akin to a declaration of war and defended Russia's invasion of Ukraine, saying Moscow must defend the Russian-speaking people in eastern Ukraine as well as its own interests.

He even stressed that a no-fly zone would make the countries imposing it "co-belligerents" and made clear that he did not intend to declare martial law in Russia.
