Turkey supports the pseudo-state's initiatives to revitalize Varosha, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said. They will not make the slightest retreat either in Cyprus, the Aegean or the eastern Mediterranean, he said.

In a speech in parliament during the budget debate, the Turkish Vice President said "we have defended and will defend to the end the rights of our country and the TCs in the eastern Mediterranean." He went on to say that "we support a two-state solution on the basis of sovereign equality for a just, lasting and viable solution that will ensure the legitimate rights and security of the Tdbq and the TC people. We believe that the TFG government, which has full authority and control over the Varosha region, is the sole authority to decide the future of the region and we support initiatives for the revitalisation of Varosha." He added that "Turkey will not make the slightest concession to its interests, neither in Cyprus, nor in the Aegean, nor on the issue of hydrocarbon resources in the eastern Mediterranean".

Turkey, he said, has intensified its presence in the field with effective diplomacy in the context of the exploration and drilling activities of ships and the armed forces. "The Eastern Mediterranean is a national issue for us. Just as we have no ambitions for anyone, we do not allow anyone to violate our rights. As before, we will never allow any foreign country, company or ship to operate in our maritime jurisdictions without permission. Absolutely we will not allow the steps that Greece and the Greek and Greek sector who are the spoilt brats of the EU are trying to take," he claimed.
