The Medical Director of Polis Chrysochous Hospital sells his handmade violin for a good cause

In an altruistic act, the Medical Director of Polis Chrysochous Hospital Marios Theodorou performed, in order to raise money for the treatment of little Lukas Stavrou, who needs to go abroad with his parents after being diagnosed with leukaemia.

In a statement to CNA, Theodorou said he has for sale a handmade unique violin made of olive wood for the price of 2000 euros. The handmade violin has a better sound, he said, than the electric violin. This amount will be given, he continued, to little Lukas Stavrou, who is fighting his own battle with leukemia.

As Theodorou said, he made the violin three years ago, with no intention of selling it. It was built, he continued, as a hobby, noting that everything he has built so far he keeps for his home or offers as gifts.

Asked about the time it took to build, he said it took more than 60 hours of work. He mastered the art of making handmade musical instruments on his own after searching for pieces of wood in nature. Once, he said, he found that particular piece of wood, he decided to use it to make the violin.

It should be noted that the State has fully covered the cost of little Luca's treatment; however, his parents, who have three other children, cannot afford the huge amount of money needed to bring them there. Theodorou, who has been the Medical Director of the Polis Chrysochous Hospital since 2006, invited those interested in the violin to contact him at 99- 393 226.
