The Municipality of Geroskipou with deepest sorrow announced the unexpected death of former Mayor Michael Pavlidis.

According to an announcement of the D. Geroskipou, Michalis Pavlidis served with passion and conscientiousness our city both from the position of Councillor for 7.5 years, and from the position of Mayor for 10 years (2012-2021), contributing with his action to the development and progress of Geroskipou.

Prior to his election to the mayoral office, he had developed a rich community activity, serving as President or member of the Board of Directors of sports and cultural associations. He was characterized by ethics, sincerity and honesty.

The City Council in an extraordinary meeting observed a one-minute silence in his memory and decided that a three-day mourning period be declared, the flags in the offices of the Municipality fly at half-mast, the funeral be held at municipal expense, the City Council and the staff of the Municipality attend the funeral. It was also decided to open a book of condolences.

Further it was decided as a sign of honor to Michael Pavlidis in a forthcoming meeting of the Municipal Council to study proposals to highlight the contribution and work of the deceased.

The Municipality of Geroskipou concludes by expressing its sincere condolences to his family.
