[Cyprus Times] Thousands of euros in fines to businesses for non-compliance. 8 establishments and 11 people were reported

Substantial fines to establishments for violating anti-COVID-19 orders

A total of 8 establishments and 11 individuals were reported in the last 24 hours after 1.968 checks carried out by the police nationwide to implement the anti-COVID-19 orders.

In Nicosia 798 checks were carried out and 3 persons and 2 establishments were reported.

In particular, a post office was fined 500 euros out of court to the manager because an employee did not have a safe pass and 750 to the manager of a bakery for the same reason.

In Limassol 124 checks were carried out and 2 persons and 3 establishments were reported.

In particular, a fine of 3000 euros was imposed on the manager of a supermarket for allowing a customer to enter without a safe pass and 750 on the manager of a brewery for the same reason. Also a supermarket was fined 8000 euros for not checking for a safe pass.

In Larnaca 349 checks were carried out and fines were imposed on 4 persons and 2 premises.

In particular, a 500 euro fine was imposed on a mini market after a customer was found without a safe pass and a 4000 euro fine on a fruit shop which was not checked for a safe pass.



In Paphos, 144 checks were carried out and a 500 euro fine was imposed on one establishment after there was no antiseptic on the premises and no employee duty roster.

In Famagusta after 249 checks 2 people were reported and in Morphou after 267 checks no violations were recorded.

The traffic police carried out 46 checks without reports, while there were no reports from checks at ports and airports.
