Three persons were arrested last night by the Police, to facilitate interrogations in connection with an investigated case of assisting the illegal entry and stay or transit in the territory of the Republic.
Specifically, around 8:40 last night, following a tip-off, members of the Police went to a village in the Nicosia district to check two persons, who were suspected to be moving by car in the area. After establishing the identity of the two suspects, men aged 25 and 22, residents of Cyprus, a search of their vehicle followed, in the luggage compartment of which a third suspect, a man aged 25, a third country national, was found, who was found to have arrived in the occupied areas and illegally entered the free areas.[/b]
The three suspects were taken to the local Kokkinotrimithia Police Station, where after court arrest warrants were issued against them, they were arrested and detained for the purpose of police investigations.
According to the evidence under examination, at around 8:40 on Tuesday evening, two suspects, in a car they were driving, entered the buffer zone, in an area of Nicosia district and a few minutes later returned to the free areas, carrying four other persons in their vehicle. Three of the four persons transported in their vehicle by the two suspects fled to the free areas.
Kokkinotrimithia Police Station is investigating the case.
