They struck again and deceived a 73-year-old woman for an alleged traffic accident of a relative. They pocketed 7 thousand euros Case of securing property with false representations New recommendations from the police Second case in a few days More complaints before the authorities

A new case of fraud and extortion of the sum of 7,000 euros, with a complainant retired woman aged 75, is being investigated by the police, who recommend the attention of the public to prevent similar incidents. At the same time, investigations are continuing to identify the suspects, who in the previous days, with the same trick, managed to extort another 10,000 euros, from a 73-year-old woman, while they attempted to extort money from other citizens, who, however, did not believe the perpetrators and informed the police.

After the complaint submitted by a 73-year-old woman to the Paphos CID, last Friday, for extracting the sum of 10,000 euros from the perpetrators of the fraud, a new complaint of a similar incident was submitted to the Paphos CID yesterday, with the victim being a 75-year-old pensioner.

According to the complaint of the 75-year-old complainant, around 10.30 before noon on Monday, she was contacted by telephone, both on her landline and mobile phone, with his phone number concealed, by a man who spoke with a Greek accent, who told her that a relative of hers, namely her daughter-in-law, after an accident, was injured in the leg and urgently needed to undergo surgery for the placement of a platinum plate in her leg. The suspect told the 75-year-old that the operation would cost €50,000 and asked for the money to be paid to a person called "George", who would meet her at Nicodemus Mylonas Street, in Paphos.

The complainant, after being convinced by what the suspect told her over the phone, went to a bank, where she withdrew the amount of 7,000 euros from her bank account and then went to Nicodemus Mylonas Street. There she was approached by an unknown man, who told her that he was the man named "George", with the complainant giving him the money she had withdrawn from the bank.

Later, the complainant suspected that she had been a victim of fraud on 2.30 at noon, she made a complaint to the Paphos CID, whose members went to Nicodemus Mylonas Street for examinations to identify the suspect who extracted the money from the complainant.

The suspect is described as a male aged approximately 30 years old, approximately 1.70m tall, of good build, with normal, black hair, light skin, possibly Cypriot or Greek, who was probably wearing black clothing. His description is similar to the description of the suspect who last Friday, with the same trick, extracted the sum of 10,000 euros from a 73-year-old woman,[URL=HTTPS:/CYPRUSTIMES.COM/KOINONIA/TIS-EIPAN-OTI-SYGGENIS-TIS-ENEPLAKI-SE-TROCHAIO-KAI-APESPASAN-10-CHILIADES-DITHEN-GIA-EPEMVASI-ALLES-3-KATAGGELIES-STIN-PAFO/]. According to the description of the 73-year-old woman, the man to whom she handed over the money, is about 35 years old, stout, of average height, with short black hair.

The Police recommends special attention to the public, appealing to citizens who receive similar types of calls to immediately inform the Police by contacting the nearest Police Station or the Citizen's Line, at telephone number 1460.
