Meeting of the KKE-RTK and meeting of the central committee of the PKK for the new "government"

As part of the efforts to form a "government" in the occupied territories, today a delegation of the National Unity Party (KKE) visited the Republican Turkish Party (RTC).

After the meeting, PKK leader Toufan Erhurman told the TC press that "in order to form a government, a real consensus on the principles (of cooperation) must be reached." Erhiurman also said that the delegations of the two parties exchanged views on the Cyprus problem and other important issues at today's meeting. According to him, the meeting was held in a good atmosphere and both parties presented their positions frankly.

"We do not have a strategy to remain in opposition. In order to form a government, a real consensus must be reached on the principles (of cooperation)," Erhjurman told the Turkish press, adding that "there are more differences in foreign than in domestic politics (between the two parties). Our stance on foreign policy is known to everyone. We are interested in the proper governance of the TC people during this crisis. We will sincerely consider (the prospect of cooperation)."

For his part, CEC leader Faiz Suzhouoglu said, "It was a very positive, healthy and beautiful discussion. I would like to thank the RTC delegation for their interest." He also said that his party handed over proposals for the new "government" to the RTC in writing.

After the end of the meeting, a meeting of the RTC's central executive committee was announced in the occupied territories. At this meeting the proposals of the CEC and the attempt to form the new "government" will be discussed.

It is noted that the new contacts of the PKK representatives with the CEC were opposed by a high-ranking member of the T/C centre-left. PKK "deputy" Erkut Shahali, in a statement, said that "we doubt whether the CEC (really) agrees with our manifesto. There are strong disagreements as to the election commitments of the two parties."
