The three-day debate on the State Budget for 2022 begins this afternoon in the House of Representatives, with speeches by leaders and/or party representatives.
Specifically, the plenary session of the House of Representatives will begin at 15:00 with legislative business, followedby the Chairperson of the Finance Committee, Christiana Erotokritou, who will present a summary of the Committee's report on the 2022 State Budget.
This will be followed by the speeches of the party leaders, starting with the smallest and ending with the largest party. In particular, the order of the parties will be the Movement of Citizens' Ecological Cooperation, DIPA, EDEK, ELAM, DIKO, AKEL, DISY.
The leaders of the parties DISY, AKEL and DIKO will have 40 minutes for their speeches, while the leaders of the parties ELAM, EDEK, DPA and the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Co-operation will have 30 minutes for their speeches.
According to the Finance Committee report, in relation to the general government, the 2022 budget projects revenue (excluding financial flows) of €9,691 million, increased by 4.9% compared to 2020 and expenditure (excluding loan repayments) of €9,960 million, decreased by 4% compared to 2020.
In relation to central government, the state budget for 2022 projects revenues (excluding financial flows) of €6,731 million, up 4% compared to revised revenues for 2021 of €6,473 million and total expenditure (excluding loan repayments) of €8,408 million, which are down by 0.8% compared to the 2021 estimate of €8,479 million.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance has submitted a total of 31 amendments to the 2022 state budget to Parliament for the purpose of incorporating them into the main budget and submitting them to the plenary for approval. Following the approval of the 2022 budget by the Council of Ministers and its submission to the House of Representatives, the need to amend the bill was identified to add and/or subtract appropriations to the 2022 budget and the Medium Term Financial Framework 2022-2024, to regulate a number of issues on the basis of subsequent decisions of the Council of Ministers, as well as to correct certain errors and omissions.
Total expenditure from the proposed amendments amounts to €4,104,060 for 2022 and €4,015,132 and €3,878,380 for 2023-2024, respectively.
