The Speaker of the House of Representatives met with representatives of the "ELPIDA" Foundation

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Anita Demetriou, met with representatives of the "ELPIDA" Charitable Foundation for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia on Wednesday.

According to a statement of the Parliament, expressing first of all the gratitude and appreciation of the state for the invaluable contribution of the Foundation, the Speaker of the Parliament was informed about a series of problems that hinder the uninterrupted operation and social contribution of the Foundation, while for his part, the President of the Foundation submitted specific improvement suggestions for discussion, which include, among others, the promotion of social and legislative measures to support the sufferers and their families, both in Cyprus and abroad.

He also analysed the right to be forgotten of the "winners" of childhood cancer, so that after the end of their recovery they again have equal treatment in all areas of life.

In conclusion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, expressing the readiness of the House of Representatives to assist in every possible way in resolving the long-standing problems of the institution, pledged to inform in writing the competent Minister of Labour, Welfare and Social Security and to take all necessary steps towards the resolution of the key issues raised before her, personally monitoring the progress of their resolution.
