Vaccinated children are excluded from the "test to stay" measure, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Health and following a meeting of the Minister of Health with the Scientific Advisory Group this afternoon.
As part of the Ministry of Health's efforts to keep schools safe and operational without denying students their basic right to education, students who are close contacts of a confirmed positive case and choose to implement the testtostay measure may undergo a rapid antigen detection test (rapid test) at the sampling sites below:

- Τα these points will be open from 7:00π.a.m. until 8:00 a.m. to better serve students who will be close contacts. (Middle school students are recommended to arrive between the hours of 07:00 - 07:30 to avoid further loss of instructional time).
Υπενθυμίζεται ότι:
- Compliance with the above measure is optional and is only for students who are close contacts of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case and were reported in-school, as defined by the health protocol governing school facilities (two meters away from all directions of the positive incident, within the classroom, during recess, during sports and during transportation by private vehicle). It is clarified that if a person is tested in the afternoon and found positive, their contacts at school will be able to make use of the testtostay[/B] measure.[/B]
- Children who are close contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19 and who by protocol must be restricted, should be transported daily for the 6-day period by their parents to predetermined sampling sites operating at school sites to undergo a rapid antigen detection test (rapid test) and then, if the test result is negative, transported to their school site.
- Primary and secondary school students residing in remote or mountainous communities will continue to be served by the sampling points visiting school facilities, as announced by the Ministry of Health.
- It is clarified that in all cases, parents/guardians are responsible for accompanying and supervising children attending sampling centres located at schools.
- The measure is not retroactive. Therefore, it only applies to students who are close contacts of confirmed positive cases identified in schools as of Monday 24 January 2022.
What applies to close contacts who have no history of vaccination or have received at least one dose of vaccine, or have completed their vaccination schedule and the 7-month period has elapsed, or have become ill and the 90-day period has elapsed?
- They will have the option to either be confined for 10 days as per the protocol and released on day 7 if they provide a negative PCR test at their own expense, or to come to the designated sites for the Rapid test every day for the period of 6 consecutive days after contact (excluding holidays and weekends).
- This measure applies exceptionally only to the opening hours of schools (including single day schools and optional day schools) and after the withdrawal of close contacts from schools, they will be self-limiting as they will continue to be considered close contacts and will not be able to take part in other evening activities (such as tutorials, sports, etc.).a)
- These persons should avoid being transported by public transport and should travel to school in a private vehicle.
- The absence of students from class during the laboratory test procedure will be excused.
What applies to close contacts who have completed their vaccination schedule and the 7-month period has not elapsed or hold a certificate of infection and the 90-day period has not elapsed?
- Under the protocol they are not required to self-limit and are required to undergo rapid antigen detection testing on days 3 and 5 of contact through the tracing procedure. Recommendation for PCR on day 7 if symptoms against COVID (Therefore, they are not required to undergo Rapid test for a period of 6 days).
