The Personal Physician is the patient's first point of contact and acts as a consultant on health issues, helping to relieve the pressure on specialist doctors in secondary and tertiary units in hospitals while people can refer to the PI for any medical issue and after assessing their condition, he/she will decide whether he/she can serve them himself/herself or refer them to a doctor of a particular specialty for further investigation, according to the statement.
OKYPY, the statement added, has the largest network of Personal Doctors nationwide -92 in total - who work in 38 Health Centres covering geographically all of free Cyprus, even in remote areas.
It was further stated that the number of registered beneficiaries registered with OKYPY Personal Doctors exceeds 95,000, while the health centres offer services including wound changes, administration of injections and vaccinations, among others.
