[/QUOTE]The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture
The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture discussed on Tuesday the problems faced by farmers and ranchers in the community of Delikipou, ways of addressing and resolving them and the establishment and operation of farmers' markets in municipalities and major rural centres for the sale of agricultural and dairy products.
As stated in a press release, the commission focused on the problems faced by farmers and ranchers in the Delikipou community due to the conversion of gravel land into state forest land. It added that the Commission will come back for further consideration in two months' time.
With regard to farmers' markets, the discussion focused on three pillars, concerning the non-implementation of the current legislation on farmers' markets, the non-establishment of the advisory committee provided for in the said legislation and the untimely submission of a relevant bill, which is pending before the Legal Service of the Republic for legislative review.
