The Civil Service Commission, acquitted and fully exonerated Accountant General Rhea Georgiou from various disciplinary charges brought against her.

According to a statement issued by the Auditor General's office, after reviewing the case and the extensive testimony presented before it, the NCA unanimously decided to dismiss all charges against Ms. Georgiou and her discharge and acquittal.

The disciplinary charges in question related to an incident that took place on 12.9.2017 and which allegedly involved a breach of her duties and obligations. The lengthy decision was reached after a lengthy procedure.

According to the statement, Mrs. Georgiou expressed her absolute satisfaction with the acquittal of the Public Service Commission, which, in addition to personal vindication, constitutes a shielding of important institutions in our country and is of exceptional importance for the functioning of the institutional role of the General Accounting Office of the Republic.

She also expressed her intention to continue doing her duty in full in order to serve both the institution of the General Accounting Office of the Republic and the State in general.

The Accountant General and Rea Georgiou were represented before the Public Service Commission by the lawyers Polis Polyviou and Maria Antoniou.
