The Ministry of Interior rejects the concealment of data for the KEP and expects from A.Attalidou to "apologize"

The Ministry of Interior invites the deputy of the Ecologist Movement - Citizens' Co-operation Alexandra Attalidou to apologize, adding that it would be more correct for Attalidou to be informed before claiming that a public authority violates a relevant law. The Ministry of Interior describes as "untrue" what Attalidou claimed about the withholding of data on decisions concerning the investor naturalisation programme (KEP).

According to the Ministry of Interior, Attalidou forwarded a question to the Interior Minister on 15 December, "which she rushed, for obvious reasons, to make public before receiving a response", according to a statement.

"In her letter, she asked 'why (the Ministry of Interior) violated the Population Registry Law and did not send information to the House of Representatives about the persons it intended to put before the Council of Ministers for an exceptional naturalisation grant, as its predecessors did'," the Ministry of Interior said.

The MFA releases both the Interior Minister's reply to Ms Attalidou dated January 22, as well as the letters dated 19/7/21 and 29/7/21, sent to the Deputy Director of the House of Representatives before the Cabinet meetings on July 22 and 30 "which certainly refute any untrue allegations made by Ms Attalidou", it said.

"It would be more appropriate for her, as a representative of the people in Parliament, before making such statements, to at least be informed, much more so when she alleges a violation of the law by a public authority," the MFA said, concluding: "We hope that he is possessed of decency and for this he will apologise."
