Based on socio-economic criteria
A total of 24 scholarships, amounting to €1,000 each, were awarded by the Metropolis of Limassol, (1,000,000), based on socio-economic criteria, to an equal number of students of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), at an event held on Friday 18.2.In his address to the event, the Rector of the University, Professor Panagiotis Zafiris thanked the Metropolitan of Limassol for the support of the Metropolis of Limassol to the University, as well as for its multifaceted social action and its contribution to the city of Limassol.

As the Rector mentioned, the Church is an important helper of the University as it quietly and constructively works to meet the needs of its students, offering, on a daily basis, 800 free meals as well as spiritual and material support and assistance to students in need. Athanasios[/B] thanked the students for their presence at the ceremony and pointed out that the Metropolis of Limassol is experiencing a daily miracle, as despite the difficulties it manages to respond to its social work.
The President of the Student Welfare Association, Mr. Nicolas Iordanou,[/B] who expressed his gratitude[/B] to the Holy Metropolis of Limassol and especially to Elder Athanasios, who has always been by the side of the Cyprus University of Technology. He also thanked the Theophilos Bishop of Amathus, Mr. Nicholas and Archimandrite Philotheos for their long-standing support to the university community of TEPAK.
