New era and boost to Cyprus-UK parliamentary relations, by the visit to our island of Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons.
As we know, it was the first time since 1960 that a Speaker of the House of Commons has visited Cyprus. Sir Lindsay Hoyle visited Cyprus at the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
During his stay here, Sir Lindsay Hoyle was briefed on the Cyprus problem and on the fait accompli that Turkey and its enabler in the occupied territories, Ersin Tatar, are attempting to create. And he made it clear that the framework for a solution to the Cyprus problem and the basis for a solution must also be in line with United Nations resolutions.

The reaction of the occupied territories to the refusal of the Speaker of the House of Commons to go to the occupied territories and have contacts with officials of the pseudo-state was also indicative, with the "Presidency" expressing disappointment.
While in Cyprus, Sir Lindsay Hoyle attended a discussion with students on "Parliaments and Democracy, Parliamentary Transparency in Practice".
