"Neither the parliament nor the society is respected by the government," says AKEL.

As the party's press spokesman says, "yesterday, Mr Anastasiades referred to the reduction of VAT on electricity, which was voted for by all forces except Synergy. In other words, accuracy and increases are hitting the income of the majority of society on a daily basis, but the government of the Coalition - not only does it not move to take drastic measures - but also blocks what the political forces are taking."
At the same time, Koukoumas stresses that the government's defiance is greater when one considers that all Cypriots are paying dearly for electricity not only because of the international price increase, but mainly because of the fines for pollutants. Είναι και αυτό μια απόδειξη ότι αυτή η κυβέρνηση –όχι μόνο δεν μπορεί να λύσει τα προβλήματα της κοινωνίας- αλλά δεν συναισθάνεται καν την καθημερινότητα, το κόστος ζωής, τους μισθούς και όλα όσα απασχολούν την πλειοψηφία της κοινωνίας» καταλήγει.
