In a written statement, Kition Ocean Holdings LTD's CEO Panos Alexandrou said that "the schedules are being respectfully adhered to and the planning is proceeding so far without any delay. The cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, the relevant government departments and the Municipality of Larnaca is excellent, and as a result the whole project is on track," he said.
Specifically, he noted, "construction works are expected to start immediately after the approval of the updated master plan of the project and its submission to the planning authority. It is expected that the first bulldozers will enter the marina on April 1, 2022, which will be day zero, as the redevelopment of the project will begin immediately."
According to Alexandrou, "initially, the existing buildings will be upgraded to be able to serve boat owners, who will also be able to use applications and software from their mobile phones. Greenery, large pavements and new lighting are some of the immediate changes at Larnaca Marina, which will continue to develop."
At the same time he assured that "the berthing fees at the new Larnaca Marina will not be prohibitive for existing users, the majority of whom have already been informed and have expressed their satisfaction with the whole project. A modern image will also be given to the old dock, a trademark of the town of Zenon, which will have 4 gazebos on the water."
As for the building of the Naval Scouts, "it will be transformed into a photography museum, while the old crane will also be upgraded, which will become the new landmark of the historic dock. Special lighting and beautiful benches will complement the redevelopment project. At the same time, with the new marina, the breakwater will be enlarged and artificial reefs will be created, actions which will also lead to the upgrading of the beach of Finikoudes."
Mr. Alexandrou "also indicated that the whole project will be energy self-sufficient, will fully ensure the protection and sustainability of the environment and will contribute significantly to the reduction of noise, which is also recorded in the environmental study, which was presented at a public hearing a few days ago."
