The file on the relaxations is reopened "They will depend on the experts" says the Minister. Health data and estimates for the next few days

The possible relaxation of restrictions will depend on the Scientific Advisory Committee, Health Minister Michael Hadjipandela told the Cyprus News Agency. He said that the situation with the number of cases and the reduction in hospitalizations is currently stabilizing, while the next few days are expected to bring better results.

Asked if any decisions will be taken to relax the restrictive measures, the Minister said that "a decision will be made on Tuesday after I meet with the Scientific Advisory Committee. We don't have anything in mind right now. We will wait until Tuesday. Quite a lot can change with coronavirus, we will see how the cases, the hospitalizations go and we will decide accordingly."

Certainly, he noted there will be recommendations from the scientists for relaxations. The goal, he said, is to meet on Tuesday at 7.45 a.m. before the Cabinet meeting and then go to Cabinet at 10 a.m.

Asked if we can hope for an end to the pandemic in the spring, Hajipandela said that "no one can know that."

In relation to the current period, the Minister said that "it is a good situation in our country, there should be no complacency and we must study any findings very carefully."

He pointed out that "we are doing very well", adding that "yesterday hospitalisations fell below 200, we are waiting to see in the next few days and we will decide accordingly."

We believe, he continued, that there will be a further reduction in the coming days, but it is not something we can be sure of.

In relation to the test to stay measure, he said that "it is successful and this is proven by the numbers and the tests that are done every day. It is going to the National Guard and soon to our hospitals."

In response to a comment that many deaths from coronavirus were being recorded and in February, the Minister said that "it is a global phenomenon of increasing deaths, these are people who have not been vaccinated and we are making a final appeal to the unvaccinated to get vaccinated to avoid ending up in hospitals."

Regarding vaccinations he said they have not been sent and that there is an increase we have about 3 thousand vaccinations a day. This, he noted, is a satisfactory number given the data we have."

"The message I want to send is for people to adhere to the ministry's measures, get tested frequently and there should be no complacency," he added.
