[/QUOTE]The EPP rolls up its sleeves ahead of the Presidential Elections The EPP launches a series of contacts with its members for the Presidential Elections against the background of the congress on March 13
The EPP leadership launches today a series of contacts with party members on the sole issue of the upcoming Presidential Elections.
EPP President Marinos Sizopoulos said from the Parliament that meetings will be held in all provinces and the cycle will close with a Pancyprian meeting on March 13 at the Conference Centre in Pano Lefkara.
He said the purpose of the meetings is to listen to the leadership of the members, give explanations and make the necessary clarifications so that at the March 13 gathering the general directions will be given to the party leadership to take the appropriate actions that will determine the final position of the EPP in the Presidential Elections.
Asked if the EPP will have contacts with all parties, Sizopoulos clarified that there will be no contacts with ELAM, while beyond that his party is open to discuss with any party that asks to have contact in order to exchange views.
What is in the priorities of the EPP, he added, is that any cooperation will be achieved on the basis of specific criteria, and above all, the dialogue should be equal and the EPP should be involved in this dialogue from the beginning, to determine the convergences and divergences on specific issues of government policy and then rationally the collective bodies of the parties, with democracy and full transparency, should take the final decisions.
"There is no possibility for the EPP to endorse predetermined decisions, either on candidates or on a government programme and simply come forward to ratify them," he said."
