The Geological Survey Department of the Ministry of Agriculture issued an announcement on the strong 5.3 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.

• The earthquake that "shook" Turkey was also felt in Cyprus (MAP)[/B]

As noted, the earthquake had its epicentre in the sea area 160 kilometres north-west of Polis Chrysochous and a focal depth of 80 kilometres.

The earthquake was slightly felt in many areas of Cyprus.
