The 56-year-old has already confessed that he was the one who committed the new femicide

The 56-year-old confessed perpetrator of the murder of his 55-year-old ex-wife, whom he shot in the back with a shotgun when she entered a pastry shop to buy bread last Monday morning in Nea Madyto, Thessaloniki, has been brought before the prosecutor.

What the woman-killer claimed

The 56-year-old man allegedly claimed during his statement to officers of the Crimes against Life Department of the Thessaloniki Security Department that he could not bear to be away from his ex-partner after their separation four years ago and was blinded by jealousy. He had allegedly caused problems for the woman in the past, according to testimonies from her environment, so the investigations were turned towards him.

Where he had hidden the weapon

Shedding light on the case, the police tracked him down and arrested him on Tuesday afternoon in a settlement in the area of Diavata, while the perpetrator then pointed to a spot in Kalochori where he had hidden the weapon with which he committed the crime.

Initially there were testimonies, according to which the person carrying the gun looked like a woman. However, it appears that the long coat and hood worn by the 56-year-old, combined with his thin build, misled witnesses. As the authorities' investigations progressed, the female perpetrator scenario was overturned.
