She went shopping at Walmart but what she was interested in buying ended up being a baby. And because she insisted, even though the baby was off...sale, she was handcuffed and risks going to jail for ten years.

This was Rebecca Lanette Taylor, who was at the Walmart store in Texas when she approached the baby's mother, who was at the time paying at the vending machine to leave.

Taylor commented positively on the child's blond hair and blue eyes. She didn't stop there, but asked the mother how much it cost. The mother laughed, thinking it was a joke, but Taylor told her she had $250,000 in the car. She even started to get pushy and the mother told her to walk away.

According to the affidavit, the 49-year-old was not deterred at all. Instead, she replied to the mother that she had wanted to buy a baby for a long time, worrying the mother, who left.

However, Taylor was waiting for her and began yelling at her in the parking lot that she would give her $500,000 "because she wanted the baby and would take it."

At that point, the mother went to the police and Taylor was arrested on Jan. 18. The indictment appears to charge her with attempt to purchase a child, which is a third-degree felony in the state of Texas.

Now, Taylor faces a minimum of 10 years in prison if convicted and will be fined $10,000.

The woman was released from the Houston County Sheriff's Office on $50,000 bail.
