Ten things to have ready in case of a nuclear holocaust The advice is from the Federal Emergency Management Agency U.S. Emergency Management Agency and everyone's wish is that they will always remain unnecessary

A few hours ago, Vladimir Putin ordered his military command to deploy Russian deterrent forces, on alert. These are Russian military units, including nuclear weapons. Simply put, he put the huge Russian nuclear arsenal on alert.

The Russian President justified his order by saying that he did so after the aggressive statements of the leaders of the NATO member states. In fact, immediately afterwards, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that following Putin's order, Russian strategic missile troops, nuclear submarines in the Pacific and the North, as well as the strategic air force, are already on combat readiness.

It all looks like the world is reliving the nightmare of the "cold war" when no one knew who would push the button and when the earth would be torn apart by a war between two superpowers.

Everyone dislikes this nightmare scenario that will evolve from the war in Ukraine to a global nuclear war with hundreds of millions dead in a matter of seconds.

The Ten Essential Things

The US Federal Emergency Management Agency has occasionally published special guides for such nightmare situations and now anyone on the internet can read some basic things to do when the buttons are pushed. This particular guide is 241 pages long and states, among other things. That is to hide in a basement, or shelter. But the question is how to survive in there.

So one should have with him:

-Water at least for the first 72 hours after the nuclear bomb is dropped. (Here we have to calculate that a human being needs 3.5 litres per day)

-Food at least for 3 days and in any case packaged.

-Radio with batteries.

-Radio with batteries. When the bombs fall there will be nothing on the surface. And of course there will be no TV, internet, electricity, cell phones. Only radio will be used for communication.

-First aid kit

-Battery-powered torch. (As we said there will be no electricity at all)

-Whistle. Since, as in earthquakes, the whistle helps to locate someone buried under the rubble

-Mask. Not the masks we wear for the corona, but a mask with an activated carbon filter.

-Wet wipes, for hygiene reasons

-Maps of the area we are in

-Toolbox with basic tools that will come in handy later.
