T/C side ready to cooperate with EU to tackle consequences of pandemic on economy, says Tatar He asked the EU to take action to remove the "unjust isolation" of the TCs

Online meeting with the EU's Director General for Structural Reform Support, Mario Nava and his delegation, was held yesterday, Wednesday, by TC leader Ersin Tatar, with the discussion revolving around issues of cooperation on various projects. According to a statement from the "presidency", Tatar expressed the readiness of the TC side to cooperate with the EU, adding that "it is important for the EU to avoid any discrimination against Turkish Cypriots".

We are ready to continue and expand cooperation with the EU in various fields, from the environment to education, trade and tourism, he said.

The T/C side, he continued, is ready to implement projects that will help address the negative impact on both sides' economies in Cyprus due to the pandemic, he said.

The T/C leader also said it was important that the T/C side be included in clean energy projects as "pollution knows no borders" in his words.

He also asked the EU to take action to remove the "unjust isolation" of the T/C and to implement its promises without promoting policies that reinforce "inequality" on the island.

According to the statement, Nava called the meeting constructive and expressed his desire to continue contacts with the T/C side. The meeting was also attended by the special representative of the T/C leader Ergyun Olgun.
