[CYPRUS TIMES] Swindon: 6-year-old fan sent 26 cents to his favourite player. "Mom can't afford to eat."

The boy was touched by sending the letter to his favourite footballer The club, which plays in England's fourth division, has organised a campaign to track down his family and has launched an online collecting money to be given to the boy's mother

The story of a six-year-old Joe boy who sent 26 cents to Swindon to be given to his favourite footballer Harry McCurdy is making the rounds online. McCurdy was the one who scored against Manchester City in the FA Cup.

In the letter that had the 26 cents taped to it, Joe wrote that "Mum has no money for us to come to Swindon games because she has no money for food and she has to pay for my food at school. I like Swindon, one day I will come."

The club, who play in England's fourth division, made the little boy's letter public via their Twitter account, which went viral within hours. Club officials are seeking more information about the six-year-old and his family.

At the same time, an online campaign has been launched to raise funds for the six-year-old. In fact, the website Justgiving had set a target to raise £1,000 which it achieved within a few hours.
