This decision, notes the Municipality, confirms the sustainable and people-centred design of the Cheriou Street upgrade, which was carried out by Andreas Markides Associates.
Following this positive development, the Municipality will proceed immediately with the next steps for the implementation of the project, based on time schedules, as well as with the call for tenders, in compliance with all foreseen procedures, in collaboration with the relevant government departments, it adds.
The project, following the decision of the Council of Ministers, will be carried out as an urban project, with the cost shared 80% by the State and 20% by the Municipality.
The Municipality of Strovolos says that the new Cheriou Street will be a modern road that gives priority to people, providing a safe environment for pedestrians and highlighting the commercial and social viability of the area.
