"AKEL wishes health, prosperity and well-being to all the Cypriot people on the occasion of the Christmas celebrations. We especially wish the workers in retail and catering, hospitals and essential services who are obliged to be at work these days, working shifts even on festive days, who deserve double the respect of everyone.
The festive spirit of the holidays does not make us forget that thousands of people in our country continue to face enormous economic difficulties and the unbearable cost of living, poverty and even destitution. Together with the solidarity of society - which, fortunately, our people still offer generously - the country needs a state of solidarity and welfare. And for this we should all work.
We also send a message of solidarity to the refugees and immigrants living in our country. We recall again that the Christmas message of love embraces every person, of every religion, language and race. Xenophobia and racism are alien to what our people are celebrating these days.
With these thoughts we wish our country and all of humanity to defeat once and for all the pandemic that is robbing lives and exhausting the strength of society.
We wish happy birthday, health and happiness to all."
