A few hours after the young man was arrested trying to storm Windsor Castle and taken to a psychiatric hospital, a video was released of a masked man claiming to want "revenge for the 1919 Amritsar massacre" by threatening to assassinate Queen Elizabeth.

London's The Sun newspaper released the video allegedly posted by the 19-year-old himself, stating that he wants to assassinate the Queen.

In the video sent to friends, Jaswant Singh Chail, 24 minutes before storming the castle in southern England, apologises for wanting to kill Queen Elizabeth, but says it was a revenge attack.

"This is revenge for those who died in the Jalianwala Bagh Massacre. It is also revenge for those who have been killed, tortured and discriminated against because of their race," the 19-year-old, who is of Indian origin, says in the video, in an altered voice.

In the "Jalyanwala Bagh Massacre" in India in 1919, hundreds of Indians were killed by British fire during a demonstration in support of the country's independence.

This video was uploaded to Snapchat on Christmas Day, 24 minutes before the young attacker was captured.

The 19-year-old's father claimed to Britain's Daily Mail that he and his wife are by their son's side even though they haven't had a chance to talk to him.

"We haven't had a chance to talk to him, but we are trying to give him the help he needs We are going through a difficult time. We are trying to sort it out and it's not easy," his father said.

His son was arrested, detained under the Mental Health Act and remains under the care of doctors, British police said.

19-year-old Chail's father, Yasbir Singh, is a director at an IT company where his wife also works.

Yasbir Singh, a soft-spoken man, a software engineer, runs the company from his home, the British newspaper comments.

His son had a comfortable life in a middle-class neighbourhood north of Southampton. As the British media points out, the 19-year-old used a ladder to climb a metal fence in Windsor Castle. A crossbow was found in his possession.

"Security agents could not believe their eyes," a security source told the newspaper.

Crossbows are considered deadly weapons in Britain, but no special license is required to buy or possess them.

Notably, this is not the first time someone has attempted to break into the Queen's residence. The most spectacular such attempt occurred in 1982, when 30-year-old Michael Fagan managed to reach her bedroom at Buckingham Palace while Queen Elizabeth was in bed. Fagan climbed a wall, entered Buckingham Palace and wandered into a room where the monarch was.
