Ten establishments were identified this year in businesses to combat electronic gambling in Paphos

Ten establishments were identified by members of the Paphos Police Department in the Paphos district of from the 1st of the year until the 10th of August 2022 to use electronic gambling machines and engage their patrons in cyber-gambling as part of an operation to crack down on electronic gambling.

According to the Press Spokesman of the Paphos Police Department and Head of the Paphos Police Department Michael Nicolaou, from 1 January 2022 until Wednesday 10.8.22 in operations carried out with regard to the fight against electronic gambling, five establishments were identified, in which their owners were using computers that were converted into electronic gambling machines. Mr. Nicolaou said that for all five establishments orders of suspension of their operation have been issued.

Also in five other establishments, during the same period, persons in the Paphos district were found to engage in cyber-gambling, for which the Police proceeded to issue a relevant order of suspension of their operation for the purpose of investigating the cases.

Offences under the Betting Law are being investigated against the managers of the establishments, he added, while evidence was received from all ten establishments and sent to the Police Headquarters for scientific examinations.

Nicolaou said that operations to combat electronic gambling will continue in Paphos province at a later stage.
