The findings of the autopsy on the body of the unfortunate infant who expired on Saturday are shocking. The Limassol CID, which proceeded on Wednesday night to arrest the 37-year-old father and the 22-year-old mother, is investigating a case of manslaughter.
As it is known, the unfortunate infant was initially taken to Limassol Hospital by his parents last Saturday morning, March 5, without a pulse. The parents claimed that the baby drowned during his resuscitation. Respiratory resuscitation was attempted at Limassol Hospital and the baby was intubated. He was subsequently transferred to Makarios Hospital in a very poor condition, admitted to intensive care but unfortunately expired a few hours later.

As reported in last night's Cyprus Times report, according to the findings of the forensic experts, the infant's death was found to have been caused by a severe craniocerebral injury. Further, two fractures and a subdural hematoma of the spinal cord were identified. The forensic experts concluded that this was a malicious traumatic injury and ruled out the possibility that the injuries were caused by an accident within the home.

Within the day, they are expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court with a request for a detention order.
