A serious traffic accident occurred in the afternoon today on the Liopetriou to Sotira road in Famagusta province.

Specifically it was five minutes after six in the afternoon when a car moving in the area lured a cyclist.

As Andreas Constantinou, press spokesman for the Famagusta Police Directorate, told the Cyprus News Agency, "a car driven by a 43-year-old woman on the Liopetriou road to Sotira, crashed into the back of a bicycle driven by a 29-year-old man, resulting in the young man being very seriously injured".

"The bicycle did not have any lights on it, and there is no lighting at that part of the road. Members of the Famagusta Traffic Police went to the scene and are conducting investigations."

Members of the Police rushed to the scene to investigate the circumstances under which the serious accident occurred.
